December 2025 Official RDA Project Update

This quarter has been busy for the NSLA Official RDA project.  Across September, the MAP Working Group co-leads held focus groups to gather feedback about the draft Metadata Application Profiles (MAPs).  The focus group members were split into two groups – those from NSLA libraries, and those external to NSLA (including representatives from library vendors and academic libraries).  The focus groups tested the draft MAPs and provided valuable insights that the MAP Working Group co-leads have incorporated into the final Metadata Application Profiles.  Thank you to everyone who volunteered and participated in the focus groups.

The Policy Statement Working Group has completed their review of their earlier entity work, and have started creating Policy Statements for the common elements across the Metadata Application Profiles.  The Policy Statement Working Group will ramp up in early 2026 when the group splits into subgroups to create policy statements for the roughly 150 remaining elements used in the MAPs.

NSLA was asked to give a presentation about the NSLA Official RDA Project at the November RDA Steering Committee public session.  Due to time differences, the presentation was provided as a recording which can be found on the RDA Toolkit YouTube channel.
