Heritage Collections 

The Heritage Collections project seeks to develop collection expertise and best practice in managing, interpreting, valuing, communicating and conserving NSLA’s unique collections. This project builds upon work undertaken by the former Archival CollectionsPictures and Maps groups.


  • Principles for improving discoverability of NSLA heritage collections (2016)
  • Seeking collaborative solutions and approaches to making NSLA heritage and archival collections more discoverable (2016)
  • Pictures Digitisation and Description Project Workflow Analysis Report provided a framework for NSLA libraries to map their own workflows and business rules to assess and improve digitisation processes
  • Exploring potential collaborative work around collection expertise, valuation, vendor negotiations, metrics, library user needs, and other issues pertaining to heritage collections
