SLNSW begins foyer renovations

The final stage of the major transformation of the State Library of NSW’s Macquarie Street wing starts on 20 February 2012. The ground floor foyer area will be renovated to complement the new look State Reference Library, which reopened to the public in September 2011.

The result will be a friendly, community-centred space for library users and visitors. Cafe Trim and the Library Shop will be modernised and enhancements will be made to the Metcalfe Auditorium. The new foyer layout will also feature a casual lounge area and six additional express internet terminals.

The library will remain open during the renovation, with the State Reference Library and events and exhibitions operating as normal. Access arrangements to the Galleries and State Reference Library will change. More information is available on the SLNSW website.

Building work is expected to conclude in late April 2012 and Cafe Trim and the Library Shop will reopen for business on 4 May.
