NSLA members discover ALIA 2012

Library professionals will convene in Sydney this week for the Australian Library and Information Association’s (ALIA) biennial conference. The theme for the conference is 'discovery', reflecting the opportunity for delegates to 'undertake their own discovery and explore the library and information profession' at the three-day event.
As well as the many NSLA project group members attending as delegates, NSLA libraries are well-represented in the program. NSLA members will also chair and present a number of sessions:
- Margaret Allen, CEO of the State Library of Western Australia, will chair 'The wonders of reading' session, which includes a presentation by Jane Cowell, a member of the Literacy and Learning project, who will speak about ‘Learning and Literacy – every day, every way!’ with colleagues from the State Library of Queensland.
- Alex Byrne, CEO of the State Library of New South Wales, will present the final keynote address, as well as chairing a keynote by The Hon. Michael Kirby
- Vanessa Little, Director of Libraries ACT and current ALIA President, will chair a keynote by Tom Ruthven, and the ‘Saving libraries’ session.
