Heritage Collections Forum
NSLA's Heritage Collections Forum was held on 9-11 November at the State Library of New South Wales.
Attended by 34 senior collection specialists and curators representing all NSLA member libraries, the forum included:
- discussion of new approaches to heritage collection workflows and organisational structures
- workshops on the challenges for maps, pictures, Indigenous materials and digital collecting
- information-sharing sessions
- priorities for new work.
The outcome of the forum was a series of proposals for collaborative work that will be scoped for decision by NSLA CEOs when they meet in March 2012.
Forum participants also attended the opening of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Antiquarian Bpooksellers (AANAZB) Antiquarian Book Fair, and a panel discussion with three specialist booksellers who spoke about their relationship with libraries and museums.
