Ebooks and elending think tanks

ALIA hosted the first ebooks and elending Think Tank on 15 February in Brisbane, following the association’s Online Conference. Attended by more than 100 people, the think tank was a very interesting discussion of issues across the sector.

Margaret Allen, NSLA Chair and CEO of the State Library of Western Australia, gave a presentation on international initiatives, the development of the IFLA Statement on eBooks and the work of the Australian Book Industry Collaborative Council. Margarita Moreno, National Library of Australia, spoke on the impact on interlibrary lending and copying, and Julie Rae and Sue MkKerracher led the discussion sessions and spoke about ALIA's planning and advocacy.

Two further Think Tanks will be held in March and April, at the State Library of Victoria and in Perth. An issues paper is available on the ALIA website.
